It is a business after all
There are time when artists forget that the work also includes being very aware of what it means to run a business. And in this case, a personal business. Actors are responsible to be on time for rehearsal, prepared, and open and ready to be in the art of active storytelling. It is our job to bring nuance and care to the arc of the character. If you are singing, acting, and dancing in a show it is imperative that you take care of your physical body and your mental well-being. Trouble outside of the work can be included in your toolbox for emotional connection, but it should be controlled and within your grasp so that you don't lose the character within your personal psychosis. If you are a union member, be familiar with the rules and protocols. Many of us never contact our union for assistance or to ask questions fearing repercussions or worse.
