Stop being shocked

If I hear one more person say any of the following phrases I may actually throw a tantrum:

1. This is not the America that I know
2. I can’t believe that our country is going to hell in a handbasket
3. Trump is racist, sexist, crazy...fill in the rest

How can anyone be shocked or dismayed? He pretty much laid all of his cards on the table during the election. In fact, I have never experienced a politician more honest than he was. He is doing exactly what he promised to do and more. He said, that he wanted to build a wall...so he is. He stated that immigrants should not be accepted here, and guess what they are not. He is grotesque towards women, children, any person who is not white, and he was the same way when he ran for office. And guess what? 50% of white female voters voted for him, and he got most of the popular vote. This wasn’t like the Gore election when people were still counting votes, he won fair and square.

Now that we got all the BS out the way. Let us face the truth. America is as racist and sexist as she always has been, since it’s inception. While the founding fathers were committing treason by reading the Declaration of Independence on market square, there was slavery and treaty after treaty being broken with natives. Medical experiments done on Black and Native bodies. Death and rape on those same bodies in the name of economics and ownership. The same natives, women and Blacks who participated in the American Revolution and every war after that. Only to be sold a falsehood about freedom for all. When we all know that freedom ain’t never been free. And that every law that promises freedom or civil rights contains a loophole that gives the illusion of justice and righteousness. 

Only we can change the horrible state that we are facing. In fact, I find it refreshing because if someone tells you that no one is racist and that the President is simply trying his best, you know that they share his fucked up views. And now you know where they should go in your life. Or where you should go?

SO stop being shocked and stop being sad and disappointed. Instead, I want you to read some Baldwin, hooks, Cone, X, and Rustin. Pick up Evicted, Shock Doctrine, and From #blacklivesmatter to Black Liberation and finally understand that we are living a reckoning of the dark coming into the light for EVERYONE TO SEE. And then start fighting back....because there are no second chances and I truly would not like for the Handmaids Tale to become a reality. IJS
